Samsung used the first Annual Tizen Developer Conference to show a first Prototype of a Tizen Phone to Developers. It is a reference design and will never hit the market in its current form, but it can be used to study the Operating System and test Tizen Apps in real life conditions. The Phone is powered by a 1.2 Ghz dual core A9 chip, comes with 1 GB of RAM and has a large HD-Super-AMOLED screen with 1280×720 Pixels. Featurewise it could be compared to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but without the thin body, and with no signs of Google whatsoever. Continue reading
Tizen Project releases SDK Version 1.0
The Tizen Project, a coalition between Intel, Panasonic, Samsung and a number of mobilecarriers, has released the first non-beta release of Tizen. It consists of the TizenOS source code and a software development kit (SDK). Continue reading
One or two Tizen Phones from Samsung in 2012
In a recent article in Forbes Magazine, the Senior Vice President of Samsung’s Contents Planning Team, Tae-Jin Kang, is quoted saying that Tizen will probably find its way to at least one to two Samsung devices this year, but it would not become Samsung’s main operating platform anytime soon. According to Kang, Samsung also plans to merge its Linux-based Low-End-Phone Operating System “Bada” with Tizen. Continue reading
First Screenshots of Tizen, plus Video
Tizen will be officially released around Summer 2012, but of course first developer versions are already available. Someone with access to a release of the Tizen SDK made some Screenshots of the User Interface. This is of course only a Snapshot of the current Development, but it gives an Idea of what the System will look like. Impressed?
