Samsung announces High End Tizen Phone for August 2013

Tizen-Samsung-GALAXY-S4Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsungs mobile business, told Bloomberg, that a smartphone powered by the open-source platform Tizen will be released as soon as this August. And it will not be just another phone, it will be “the best product equipped with the best specifications.” This could of course mean that Samsungs current “best product”, the new Samsung Galaxy S4, will get a Tizen based Twin. Samsung confirms availability of Tizen Phones in 2013

“We plan to release new, competitive Tizen devices within this year and will keep expanding the lineup depending on market conditions.” With this Statement, Samsung has made its strategic move away from a dependency on Android official. Analysts see this as a reaction to Googles acquisition of Motorola, which meant the search giant became a Competitor to its Android Partners, forcing them to think of Android alternatives. One or two Tizen Phones from Samsung in 2012

In a recent article in Forbes Magazine, the Senior Vice President of Samsung’s Contents Planning Team, Tae-Jin Kang, is quoted saying that Tizen will probably find its way to at least one to two Samsung devices this year, but it would not become Samsung’s main operating platform anytime soon. According to Kang, Samsung also plans to merge its Linux-based Low-End-Phone Operating System “Bada” with Tizen. Continue reading
