The Tizen Project has just released the SDK and source code for Tizen 2.0 Magnolia. The new Release shows a lot of progress: a new web framework with “state-of-the-art” HTML5 API support, a new Web UI framework with full-screen and multi-window support. NFC and Bluetooth are now supported as well, enabling short range communication with other gadgets and mobile payments.
The Operating system has been extended with some “core apps” like Calendar, Contact Management, Photo Gallery, Settings Management and Music/Video Player. And of course there is also an App for the basic Phone functionality.
The SDK also offers a number of IDEs for designing and developing Tizen Apps, and an Emulator for the Desktop. They are available for Windows, Linux and OS X.
Another release is expected during the second Quarter of 2013, right before Samsung is expected to release its first Tizen Phones in Q3/2012.
